Chickens Could Help Protect Humans From Viruses
Researchers from The Pirbright Institute investigating chicken immunology, have discovered a new component of the chicken’s immune system which could help protect humans from important diseases.
Two zoonotic poultry viruses were used in the study to test this new component in genetically modified chicken embryos. The results of which, showed that the embryo’s had better protection against these viruses and indicated the potential for humans and poultry to be protected and have greater ability to fight against many other viruses in the future.
